Event Topic

Managing projects can be challenging without the added difficulties of new technologies and new methodologies. This presentation will talk about technical project management and provide practical examples and insights based on experience. Topics such as enterprise architecture, challenges in new-age project management, new technologies/approaches (big data, machine learning, chatbots, etc.) will be discussed as well as tips on managing diverse technical teams, and implementing agile concepts in large enterprises.

Presenter Biography

Adam has over 10 years of professional experience in both the private and public sector, including demonstrated experience and execution in business, finance, technical, people and strategic management and leadership.

Adam is Principal Consultant at Pernix Pty. Ltd. and is responsible for all phases of client engagement from scoping to delivery. He has significant experience in leading large-scale development and implementation projects in both agile and waterfall environments, and within large and complex organisations. Adam’s projects have spanned across business domains such as Social Services, Finance, Claims Management, Compliance, and Health.

Additionally, as an analyst and developer he has experience in business and systems analysis, application development, integration and legacy system migration across multiple technology platforms, including: Java, IBM Mainframe Systems, and SAP (incl. HANA).

Adam is an SAP Certified Project Manager, and holds certifications in a number of industry practices, processes, and technologies.

Atul (Ash) Sharma’s background includes work experience of more than 16 Years; as a Business Analyst, Project/Program manager, Agile Coach, Lecturer, Auditor and Management Consultant. He has delivered projects/programs in Australia, UK, and India; in industries as diverse as Logistics & Supply Chain, Mortgage Services, Telecommunication, IT & Infrastructure, FMCG, Government, Telecommunications, Financial Services and NFP’s. He has served on PMI (Project management Institute) & other NFP Board’s and has experience in leading incremental & transformational programs, ERP implementation, process optimization, PMO Setup, Outsourcing, and integrating acquisitions; governing significant organizational agility/changes from both strategic and tactical approaches. He is an agile practitioner and firm believer of delivering business value by aligning leadership capabilities.

Coach, Trainer and Consultant
William Tan is the author of the popular book, “Project Management: A Practical Step-By-Step Guide”. He has > 22 years of working and project management experience in Multi-National Companies, including Nortel, Intel and Motorola. In Motorola, he led the Project Management Office (PMO) and managed many hardware and software RND/NPI projects for 2-way walkie-talkie customers worldwide, contributing to additional revenue of >$100M annually. His charters included training and coaching project managers to ensure projects meeting goals and stakeholder requirements.
In the early Universal Serial Bus (USB) days at Intel, he led many USB projects successfully. He and his team developed the specifications for the world first USB microcontroller! He published one of the first USB books, “Developing USB PC Peripherals” that outlined key steps in developing USB devices. This helped to accelerate USB adoption during those days.
Today, William leads PMO AUS Pty Ltd, focusing on providing Agile and Project Management training, coaching and consulting services to companies and individuals in Australia and New Zealand. He understands the best methods of how to bring the new project managers “up-to-speed” quickly and experienced project managers to the next performance level!

Every project manager knows how important considering risks is: if not well managed, they can easily fail a project. This presentation will focus on the risk management processes and highlight some common pitfalls when these are applied in projects. Presenter:
Konstantinos Kirytopoulos works as an Associate Professor of Project Management at the School of Natural & Built Environments at the University of South Australia. He is known for his work in project risk management and his expertise and research activity rest mainly on project risk management, project control methods and project management standards. He has served as a subject matter expert for the development of ISO 21508: Earned value management in project and programme management (2018), the ISO 21500: Guidance on project management (2012), the PMI Practice Standard for Project Risk Management (2009) and has been a content reviewer for the last three versions of the PMBOK® Guide (2017, 2013, 2008).
His main professional goal is to diffuse project and risk management disciplines, as well as to inspire people use them, not only in order to achieve business but also their personal goals.

Developing aged care business in China - ‘You won't help shoots grow by pulling them up higher.
Janet Spouse is the Chief Executive Officer of AAWS , a company which is engaged in export of aged care expertise predominantly in China. This company was formed through the cooperative efforts of three large South Australian aged care organisations, Eldercare, Southern Cross Care and Lifecare interested in developing international trade in aged care.
Prior to this role Ms. Spouse held senior management positions in a range of government and non-government organisations in the fields of aged care, health, workers rehabilitation and clinical training. Ms. Spouse has considerable business development, funds administration, project management, research and direct clinical care experience.
This presentation will focus on the development of AAWS, an aged care expertise export start-up business - the challenges, the solutions and future directions in stepping beyond Australian borders.
