Benefits Realisation Management – An Essential, and Forgotten Part of Projects
DESCRIPTION
Projects and Programmes should be viewed as investments! This means that sponsors will, and should, expect a return on their investment. The presentation will provide an overview of Benefits Realisation Management and some of the common issues when trying to implement this approach.
The Identification of benefits will be discussed as well as the pitfalls encountered when attempting to quantify benefits including cognitive bias, baselining and long term predictions and forecasts.
A number of real-world examples will be discussed to demonstrate the key points and how BRM can be applied.

Kenn Dolan – Managing Director FPMS
Kenn is a programme and project management consultant with experience of working in Europe, Africa and the Asia-Pacific region. His background covers the Construction and Resources sectors and more recently has focused on transformation programmes within large organisations.
Kenn is an expert in Stakeholder Engagement and Benefits Realisation Management and the development and tailoring of frameworks and methodologies. As Managing Director of FPMS, Kenn has been delivering successful outcomes in strategic organisational change for high profile organisations and programs throughout the Asia Pacific Region since 1999, demonstrating an ability to lead, motivate and mentor, multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary teams through complex and often innovative Programs. Kenn is a skilled communicator and facilitator with the ability to engage and manage stakeholders at all levels of the community.
He recently managed the IT Programme for the University of Adelaide’s, new Adelaide Health and Medical School on North Terrace. The $7million programme was delivered under budget and on schedule.
He has coached and mentored senior executives in over 25 countries through the process of creating their organization’s PMO capability and establishing an effective environment to identify and deliver the planned strategic benefits. As an industry subject matter expert and author, Kenn is frequently invited to present as a keynote speaker at international conferences and has been awarded many accolades by his peers for his leadership and professionalism.
