Leading the Building of Better Project Teams - Leadership Series Presentation March 2018
First of the Leadership Series presentations for 2018.
Presentation:
This presentation will focus on the importance of building better project teams. Some project teams are constructed with staff that are available rather than have the right skills, experience and behaviours. We will explore some attributes that need to be considered when building a project team, often overlooked or considered in the early stages of a project’s formation.
This presentation includes insights from Scott Way, BDO’s Industrial and Organisational Psychology practice partner.

Digital Disruption - Beyond the hype to tangible Asset Management improvement
James Cooper, Asset Information Director,
Asset Management Consulting Limited (a Turner & Townsend Company) www.amcl.com
Asset-intensive organisations face the challenge of improving productivity while enhancing and sustaining the capability and health of their asset base. There is a global trend for government agencies, professional bodies and the supply chain to promote new digital technologies and business models as a solution. Concepts such as BIM, Digital Twin, Artificial Intelligence, Prescriptive Analytics and the Internet of Things have the potential to streamline business process and enhance decision making. These disruptive digital trends seek to more effectively exploit asset data, but many remain at proof of concept stage or risk failing to realise stated benefits.
Asset Managers are increasingly tasked with investigating which digital tools would benefit their organisation. However, it can be difficult to navigate the landscape of technology and to align digital with the improvement of Asset Management frameworks and existing Asset Information projects.
This session summarises these digital trends and how they connect to Asset Management capability. It will define differing maturity states of organisations to adopt digital, in relation to existing Asset Information standards and systems. Case studies will be presented from various industries on how advanced technologies are being used to improve asset data collection, gain insights into asset performance and optimise asset investment planning. Cognitive Computing will be discussed and how organisations can interpret unstructured data and retain expert knowledge. We will cover solutions and projects related to the handover and handback of data from the asset acquisition or renewal phases, and discuss how effectively BIM is providing data to support the asset lifecycle and digital techniques.
Underpinning the content will be the presentation of a methodology and toolset which have been used to define the Asset Management decision needs of organisations. Including the use of an Asset Information Model to prioritise and develop data and digital requirements.

PMI Australia Conference 2018 Melbourne
Organisational Agility & its Perceived Benefits from Australian Perspectives
Nick Hadjinicoaou will be presenting at the June monthly event for the PMI Adelaide Chapter. Following on from his recent presentation at PMI Australia Conference 2018 he will present on the topic of 'Organisational agility and its perceived benefits from Australian perspectives'.
With over 28 years of industry and education experience, previous senior leadership roles have included Portfolio, Program and Project Management, PMO Management, ICT Management and consulting roles for various private and public organisations including IBM, Telstra, 3Pillars Asia Pacific, Business SA, the state government and Laureate Australia.
Organisational agility helps businesses to sustain their competitive advantage and contributes to business success. It accelerates shared knowledge and learning processes that meet the pace of rapid environmental change. Despite the awareness of agile application, perceived benefits in relation to major characteristics of organisational agility have not been fully investigated.
This research aims to explore and report relationships between 20 agile characteristics and 15 perceived benefits from the perspectives of Australian industry sectors. Descriptive and correlation statistics were employed to establish background of 36 research respondents and to indicate relationships of the studied variables. Degrees of correlation were closely examined. The research results showed that only some benefits of organisational agility were perceived and linked to the key characteristics of agility. The research also found different combinations of organisational agility that constructed individual perceived benefits.
